Counting to TenAnd a one and a two and a three. That's how it all starts. After that start, the sky is the limit for you. In the last section, you should have learned what numbers look like, now it's time to associate values with those numbers. As you move through this section, you will discover definite patterns in the way counting works. For most of the western world, if you know ten characters (0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9), you can do just about anything in the world of math. That's power!Starting SmallYou may have read books where they talk about billions of stars. You may have listened to the news where they talk about thousands and millions of people. That's all very well and good, but before you can move into big numbers you've got to start small. Remember that computers, no matter how fancy and amazing they are, are still built on a platform of zeroes (0) and ones (1). That's where we'll start...Very small.
Other ValuesAs you read and learn more, you will be introduced to other values like decimals and fractions that we cover here. Those topics use numbers and counting, just in a different way. Counting can also get super complex and mathematicians turn to computers for help. You will eventually understand how those numbers and values work. Let's start with counting to 10.0 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9 - 10
And with words. One - Two - Three - Four - Five - Six - Seven - Eight - Nine - Ten
