COMPARING SUMS WITH TENTH VALUES

This activity has you working on a couple of skills. You will first need to identify the decimals. This "More or Less" activity works with numbers that have tenths values. You'll have to do a little addition for step two. Decimal addition is just like adding whole numbers. The only thing you need to remember is to line up the decimal points in the first and second addends. When you line up the points, you know you will be adding ones to ones, tenths to tenths, and the rest of the places in the right position. We figured you were good at addition by now so we included carrying in these problems.

The last step will be to compare the two sums. One of these sums will probably be larger than the other sum. Click on the correct choice in the center when you know which is larger. You may get two sums that are equal to each other. Click the equal sign when that happens. The big thing to remember is that adding decimals is just like regular addition. The only difference is the little point.

Good luck and have fun.

DIRECTIONS

This type of activity challenges you to compare two values. You will be asked which value is greater or smaller for each question. Compare the two choices and click one of the center buttons. Those buttons will offer you the options of "Less Than", Equal To", and "Greater Than." Just click on the button with the correct answer. The next screen will show you the right answer.

You get a happy face for every correct answer and a sad face for every wrong answer. The quiz is over after ten (10) questions. Take the quiz again and again because all of the questions are random. Chances are, you'll get a new quiz every time. It's good practice to learn these basic arithmetic comparisons.
